WAPA members were nominated for two sport award ceremonies recently.

The West Australian Shooting Association held its annual Sports Star of Year Awards. Our nominees were Siobhan Nicholls in the junior category, Bailey Groves for the senior category, Scott Anderson for International and Brian Harvey for Service to Sport. Brian was joint winner of Service to Sport, with Kevin Brice from Smallbore Rifle. Brian was particularly busy in 2019, refereeing 16 competitions including the Action Nationals, running three range officer courses, inspecting country ranges and developing scoring software. He is a worthy winner.

The big event was the RAC Sport West Awards. WAPA nominated Siobhan Nicholls as our top junior, Mike Giustiniano for coach of the year and Bailey Groves for the Sport Star. While it is difficult to win against the popular sports, our athletes got the opportunity to accept their nomination medals on stage and give some publicity to our sport. Mike G was stoked to get his photo taken with eventual winner Nat Fyfe.

Congratulations to all our nominees for their great efforts.
